Orders amounting to nearly £20,000 (about €23,500) in value have been placed with Premier Deep Hole Drilling Ltd., the UK specialist in deep-hole-drilling, gun-drilling, and honing services, in response to the open house event the company held at its St. Albans, Hertfordshire, facilities this May.

Open house visitors were given a tour of Premier’s 30,000-ft² (2,790-m²) production facilities to see firsthand the recent equipment investments made by the company, which include two large drilling machines and a new large-capacity CNC lathe.

“These are difficult times for UK manufacturing companies, but our open house event provided an ideal opportunity for existing, and potential new, customers to see the level of commitment here at Premier,” says Managing Director Stuart Grant, “not just in terms of the material-handling and production-flow changes we have made to support our increased capability of drilling holes up to 250 mm diameter by up to 4 m long, and turning with a new 4-m CNC lathe, but also with respect to the technical capability of all of our staff.”

Premier staff were available at the event to answer visitors’ technical queries regarding various machining processes used to perform deep-hole drilling, component finishing, and precision machining.
